NAME: Alison Klein
PROFESSIONAL LIFE: I’m an energetic, driven digital and social media editor with 8+ years of experience in publishing and digital communications. I’m deeply passionate about great storytelling, and love to grow engaged and informed communities on behalf of the organizations I work with. At the moment, I’m enjoying developing social media and content strategies to deliver Seattle Met magazine’s incredible stories to everyone who cares about this city and its environs. Previously I’ve worked with Voice of America, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, the Online News Association (ONA), and other organizations.
BACKGROUND: I come from a family of writers and communicators, which is probably why I feel most at home inside newsrooms and at roundtables. I’ve lived in the Twin Cities, Boston, Washington D.C., and now Seattle—and love each city almost equally (though Seattle is vying for top pick). And ever since I got hold of my grandfather’s Canon AE-1 film camera, I’ve been passionate about photography and photojournalism; you’ll find some of my work on this site.
EDUCATION: I have a degree in multimedia journalism from Emerson College and have, more recently, taken classes on UX and front-end development, strategic communications, and responsive web design. I try to learn something new every single day.
MISC: When I’m not working, I’m probably eating, traveling, (or thinking about those things)—or snuggling my dog.
